Job Summary:
One of our clients, a large municipal organization, is looking for a Special Projects Officer for its Rent Supplement Programs Department. Your specific mandate will be to conduct housing research and provide support to other team members.

Under the supervision of the Director concerned, the main role of the incumbent is to carry out various pilot projects in social housing and any other activity related to the department, in particular those related to the selection, rental and renewal of leases for housing units reserved under the organization's private rent supplement program.

Your detailed duties will include:

-Meet with clients, tenants, applicants and landlords (private landlords, NPOs or housing cooperatives) or their agents, both at home and in the office
-Receives, visits, orients, informs and advises the clientele on the preparation of leases, complaint management, the concept of neighbourhood choices, selection territories, alternative services, regulations, standards, procedures and other government programs
Visits new tenants and welcomes multi-ethnic clients. Visits, if necessary, tenants when they change housing for health or psychosocial reasons; if necessary, advises the landlord on the intervention measures available (temporary injunction, health network resources, police, etc.)
-Analyzes files (verifies and validates supporting documents), evaluates the needs of the clientele, matches vacant units, calculates the rent to be paid, performs basic verifications on payments to landlords, verifies cases of illegal occupation in order to correct the situation and follows up on work and repairs in the units
Identifies and evaluates new units or buildings; negotiates all types of agreements (price negotiation in relation to rent increases or service reductions, etc.) within the framework of the LSP with representatives of the private sector or para-governmental organizations and presents them to his/her superior for approval
-Manages tenant and landlord complaints and crisis situations; analyzes problems and proposes solutions to reach agreements
-Ensures the rental activities of dwellings (including those of category c) and parking lots; change of dwelling (mandatory, psychosocial and health), visits and promotion of dwellings, preparation, renewal and signature or termination of leases, creation and computer modification of additions and changes of owners, coordination of the handing over of keys
Ensures constant contact with private landlords, non-profit organizations, cooperatives and the SHQ
-Participates in the development of methods, standards and procedures, participates in various projects within his/her field of activity and represents the organization to organizations such as the Régie du logement and provides assistance to his/her colleagues
-Performs all related activities that he/she is reasonably capable of performing

Temporary mandate of approximately 12 months with the possibility of extension
Daytime schedule from Monday to Friday, 35 hours/week
Workplace: 2 possible locations (at the choice of the selected candidate): near the Charlevoix Metro OR Ahuntsic-Cartierville sector
